I have some questions for you. Which is stronger, fear or hope? I also wish to know, is it better to protect people in compromise with evil, or to oppose the evil, and break it, knowing some of those you would protect will die?

[ Garviel is sitting in the garage with the door open, working with tools on his armor's chest plastron, stripped to the waist, exposing huge, slab-like muscles stippled with neural-access points, as he slowly but surely carves delicate things into the inside of the breastplate. ]

4. The Park [ Garviel is running through his sword practice in full armor, wielding a one and a half meter long blade together with his chainsword, moving so quickly the weapons whirl about him like a silver sphere of death. Dare you approach? ]

5. L'Deplaisant [ A huge fellow in a suit that barely fits him approaches your table, and rumbles in a very deep voice. ] May I take your order?

I suppose...I would look at my powers as compared to the powers of the enemy, as well as the powers of my allies. I would also try to consider my numbers and whether or not I have the advantage of the terrain. There is also the matter of whether or not I can get in the first move.

The first strike is often the deciding one, true.

If I could get a good one in, I would not need a second strike. And if I had Fragarach and waited for them to make a counter-strike should they still be alive, I can say with absolute certainty that they will not be alive to make another attack.

I've encountered enough "magic" weapons to be less than impressed, myself. As most blades with a name are.

Did any of them have the power to rewrite fate?

I can't say.

Fragarach is an absolute counter. Once used in the face of the enemy's greatest attack, the only result will be the enemy's death.

[Though she too would die should she face an enemy like Lancer.]

And if the enemy's greatest attack is a virus bomb or an orbital strike?

It is an attack. If Fragarach overwrites the flow of events, then in the proper flow of the universe, I will be the one who struck first, the one who pierced them before they could launch that virus bomb.

[ Garviel's silence indicates he does not believe such a thing. ]
