34th Blood | Cooking Mama!

[In the evening, when everyone comes home from their various schoolings or jobs or whatnot, they will return home to a horrible scene. The kitchen...the kitchen is destroyed. Not really destroyed as in the exploded or blown up sense, but it looks as if a mad scientist has been performing experiments in the kitchen.

Though, the end result is various plates full of...sugar cookies. She's even taken white frosting and made little pictures on each cookie. Things like moons and cats and even poorly drawn renditions of various people. Some of them even look like she was running out of ideas so they're just...random patterns.

For the time being, Arcueid's doing her best to clean everything up, and if anyone makes their presence known in the kitchen they will be asked to try cookies.

...just don't try the ones that are sitting near the garbage can. Those are not good cookies...and Ciel isn't allowed to know about them.]

I made cookies! [Wow, this woman sounds way too excited about this, but the voice is assaulting you over the phones either way.]

I think I did a pretty good job. Actually, I think they're the best cookies ever. Does anyone wanna try?

[Around Town | Late Evening]

[Arcueid's going around town with some containers filled with sugar cookies! If she catches you, she's gonna make you try one. As for the taste...they're just sugar cookies. You can't really fuck that up ~~despite the intense amount of work Arc had to put in to make them right~~. Still, they have cute little bad drawings/pictures on them!

...In that case, the taste leaves a lot to be desired. It's decent for a what it is, but these types of cookies are bland and at a low level for displaying baking talents, you know? Not that there's anything wrong with a good sugar cookie now and then, but if you're looking to impress someone, you need a recipe with more finesse. Something that can't just be bought at the bakery. Even something simple like making a lemon glaze instead of a powdered sugar icing would give these a boost. [in this episode of advice from a fattydingdongs...]

I had to make sugar cookies though because I'm only just learning how to bake stuff.

Visual appeal is important to food, too. [gonna pick on those decorations forever]

If this was a first attempt, I suppose it's good enough, but even for a novice it's important to add details that will make your food stand out.

Well I haven't learned that kind of stuff yet.

Like what kind of details?

Little things like enhancing a recipe with an additional flavor or two, so it has more depth. If it was something with dark chocolate, for example, you could have added cinnamon or cayenne. Lavender and lemon can go well with vanilla or things like sugar cookies.

[The confused look seems to indicate that Charles has lost Arcueid completely.]

I made a few vanilla tea cakes earlier in the day with some extra additions since the house was running low on food. [and by food he means dessert horror of horrors] That should give you an idea of how much of a difference things like that make.

[Arcueid just...tries to listen...though she seems to be looking around more than actually listening.]

You made...vanilla...what?

[arching a brow]

Tea cakes? They're like cupcakes but a little more dense and dry to go better with tea.

Oh, really?

[EXAMINING these..."tea cakes."]

Do people eat these a lot?

They're fairly popular where I come from, at least. [shifting a few around on the plate and holding it out!]

Feel free to try one. Normally they can be a bit dull since the ingredient list is so simple, but I added butter toffee glaze to the top and cinnamon applesauce to the batter so the texture is improved.

[Arcueid takes one...and actually sniffs it first. NEVER TRY A FOOD THAT DOESN'T SMELL RIGHT.

And then she tries it...and that face lights up.]

Oh wow that's good! You're as good as Ciel! Maybe you should teach me instead.

[he does the same thing when it comes to his food! but she gets a bit of an irritated look anyway... and then he just huffs, looking prideful like the little brat he is.]

Of course it is. I've had a lot of time and reason to practise, so it's only natural that my skills would--

[Huh...why does he look so surprised?]

If you can even call her a girl, yea.

[Arc is totally unaware of any other Ciels in town. THERE'S ONLY ONE CIEL AS FAR AS SHE'S CONCERNED.]

The one who works at the church? [charles there are no other ciels in town...] You know her, then?

Yea, she's one of the idiots from my world.

You know her? I guess I shouldn't be surprised...she likes to stick her nose in everyone's business.

[looking curious!] Is that so? Ciel and Merem are the only ones from that world that I know of. What name do you go by?

But yes, I do. I stop by the church frequently, so I wouldn't be able to avoid her for long even if I tried. [nevermind the fact that she's one of the few reasons he comes to church in the first place whoops.] She is rather nosy though, that's certainly true.

I think just "nosy" is probably a huge understatement, though. Not to mention it doesn't include being a nag.

I'm glad to see that's a general habit of hers and she isn't just targeting me. Those kind of personality traits combined can make for a very pesky individual, you know? She always seems to be everywhere you don't want her to be, on top of everything else. [sighs!]

Yea...she's pretty talented when it comes to being a nag.

But I guess she can be helpful sometimes.

Ah. [now that curiosity has shifted to open amusement] Well, if you come from her world, I suppose it's only natural that you'd have the time to find fondness for her nagging.

[If there were a drink it would have been spit out.]

No! She's annoying and she's only really good at anything when we fight.

She's just...helped me a few times here, but she's still a nag and an idiot!
